“On behalf of all employees we appreciate your interest in our office. We at the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office take very seriously our role as public servants. We exist to serve and protect every member of our diverse community. We are committed to providing the highest level of professional, efficient and effective service to every resident, business owner and visitor to our county. Our mission is to build a safe community across Scotland County.
Scotland County was founded in 1899 from the southeastern part of Richmond County. It was named after Scotland, as many of its early European settlers were Scots-Irish and Scottish Highlanders. Although Scotland County is relatively young among North Carolina counties, having been formed in 1899, it has a rich and interesting history.
As the 11th Sheriff of Scotland County, I will ensure every member of our office carries on the tradition of protecting and serving our community as we have for more than 120 years. We serve our community in providing law enforcement services, corrections, civil, and court services.
We are facing very exciting, yet challenging times in the Scotland County area. We are ready to confront and adapt to these changes to ensure we provide the highest quality of service.
I welcome and value your opinions and thoughts on how we are doing in serving you and our community. Our success depends on strong community partnership. It is one of my goals as your Sheriff to “Build Unity in the Community.” .
I appreciate you taking the time to inquire about our agency. I am honored at the opportunity to serve you.”
Sincerely,
Ralph E. Kersey, Sheriff
